Fairmead Farm, South Carolina
on 39 responses
Fairmead Farm has been a working farm since the 1700s. Native americans and early European settlers rest on these grounds. The relics of their pasts are here to remind us that this land afforded tranquil and simple living. A trail to the corn liquor still site suggests they had a lively business. In the early 1900s, residents coralled their hogs in a small cave to protect their animals from the elements. Our family has been a part of the Appalachian Carolinas, and we have a long history of farming and forestry since the Irish immigration.
