2 campgrounds in J. Strom Thurmond Dam and Lake Park
One mile away from the hub of boat-launching, you’ll find Hawe Creek Campground. This is a good spot to camp out for a bit, as you’ll be close to shopping, restaurants and the marina. Grab one of the lakeside sites so you can get out on the water as soon as you unzip your tent flap. Nice, right?
If you wanted a scenic camping spot close to the Thurmond Dam, Modoc Campground is your best bet. You can get out on the peninsula, stake your tents down on the waterfront, and be surrounded by tall trees and incredible views of the lake. RV’s, tents, hammocks—whatever you want to hunker down in is welcome here!
