At first glance, Susquehannock State Park may appear to be just another accommodating place for a wide variety of outdoor fun. But it’s so much more! Added to the fact that its wooded atmosphere and views of the Susquehanna River just make it freaking gorgeous, it also offers access to several unique sightseeing opportunities. Mount Johnson Island, the first bald eagle sanctuary in the world, is visible through an optical viewer from the park, and visitors are able to see eagles, vultures and osprey. How cool is that? You can also check out the Conowingo Reservoir, a stunning example of hydroelectric power, as well as the Norman Wood Bridge and Holton Dam. The park is a great place for picnicking, hiking, horseback riding or skiing in the winter. Recreation areas for volleyball, softball and more make it easy to relax and stay awhile in this spectacular natural spot.
