Wallowa Lake State Park
If this place had an alternate name, it would translate to "heaven on earth."
Imagine a deep blue lake surrounded by snow-capped mountains in a remote location. You don't have to go to Europe, just travel to Joseph, Oregon.
Start with the small resort town on the southern tip of this ribbon lake. It has restaurants, facilities, and modern creature comforts. Then, head to your campsite after seeing the pristine lake. What's not to love?
Put your boat in at the ramp or rent one for a day on the lake. Paddle to your favorite fishing spot, or take a dip in the cool water on a hot day. Follow the tree-lined wilderness trails for a scenic hike or horseback ride.
