Lillian Lankford (commonly known as Lulu) moved west to Salem Oregon after her husband died in 1907. There she purchased a wooded hillside on the Willamette River and founded the Willamette Orchards. Lulu sold fruit grown on the property until she sold the land in the late 1920s. The site of her original homestead went on to reportedly be used as a school, Grange hall and even to host rodeos, dances and all.

That building had been unused for many years when the Croft family purchased the land it was on in 2013. The Croft's have growing grapes organically in their nearby vineyards since the 1980's. When they learned the building had one time been a dance hall they quickly drew the connection between dancing and how old timers would stomp grapes to make wine. This connection led them to affectionately nickname the building Stomp. Today the building is being remodeled into a small boutique winery and tasting room. Though many of the trees have been replaced it is still a producing orchard and fruit from the land will be made into goodies to be sold in the tasting room. The nickname has stuck and the new winery will be called Stomp.
