This state park is one long, spectacular celebration to the beauty of waterfalls. If you hike the Trail of Ten Falls loop, you'll see them all, like leftover fountains from a wilder era of our planet. You can even walk behind four of them! Over millions of years, the sandstone beneath the basalt falls eroded, leaving perfect paths behind them. Also not to be missed is the park’s other geologic feature: the tree chimneys. These were formed when hot lava flowed over the trees and destroyed them.
If you are short on time, the classic South Falls Loop is only a mile long. Don’t worry, you still get to walk behind a waterfall.
The main campground has tent and RV sites. There are also cabins and dorm style bunkhouses to stay in. If you are bringing your horse, check out Howard Creek Horse Camp for accommodations.
Come see for yourself why people call this place the “crown jewel” of the Oregon State Parks system.
