Farewell Bend State Recreation Area
A beautiful wildlife paradise with historic ties to early American pioneers.
Looking for a Pacific Northwest wilderness getaway by the water? Swimming, water skiing, and boating are all here along the banks of the Snake River. The enormous 57-mile-long Brownlee Reservoir also offers some of the best fishing in the region.
The fish are far from the only wildlife to experience here. Common animals like deer, geese, and eagles call this area home. Interested in more exotic animals? You might glimpse the antelope-adjacent pronghorn and partridge-adjacent chukar here as well.
Fans of history (or classic video games) might be interested in this region's 19th-century past. This area was once the final stop on the fabled Oregon Trail. There are plenty of historic markers and interpretive displays here detailing the time period.
