Emigrant Springs State Heritage Area
Live like a pioneer at this mountaintop retreat in eastern Oregon.
An old growth forest silently watches over you as you explore this verdant area. Emigrant Springs was once a stop for pioneers on the Oregon Trail. Like them, if you made it this far, you were in pretty good shape. This rest stop sits near the summit of the Blue Mountains.
Feel free to hike among pines and ferns. Equestrian trails let you spend time with your trusty steed. You can leave the Conestoga wagon at home, though. The amphitheater hosts regular events during warm weather.
The place has horseshoe pits, a ball fields, and basketball court for sports lovers. But the scenery is the main draw here.
The campground serves as a wonderful headquarters for exploring the surrounding forest. There are 32 rustic tent sites and 16 full hookup sites. Horse camp has seven sites. Seven rustic log cabins are the only cam
