Black Mesa State Park
Located along the tri-state border, Black Mesa State Park & Nature Preserve is the perfect crossroads of entertainment and beauty. Hike through the black lava rocks coating the mesa, whose origins date back to 30 million years ago. With Oklahoma's highest point at nearly 5,000 feet above sea level, you'll really feel like king or queen of the hill up here. Whether you're interested in trekking around to explore the dozens of rare plant species, or just having a picnic in the shortgrass prairies, it'll be hard to go wrong. Grab a pair of binoculars and keep an eye out for eight rare animal breeds. Wild times indeed!
