Nestled in the hills of Monroe County, Ohio, Sparkman Lake (approx. 3 acres) sits on 40+ acres of the wooden area directly off State Route 145. We are located between Malaga & Miltonsburg. Sitting just a few miles away from the intersection with State Route 800 in Malaga, Ohio. The site offers 5 fully furnished cozy rustic rental cabins, a 4 bedroom deluxe cabin & 12 RV full hook-up lots. Individual parking is available at each lot. We took over in December 2018. We are constantly upgrading our property and completing projects to help improve our beautiful piece of land. It started with some simple property cleanup, clearing brush, fixing broken structures, and adding stone for instant transformations. Our goal is to offer our community a local place to visit and enjoy themselves, the great outdoors, fishing, pedal boating, and sitting around a campfire. As well as a close option to stay when you visit our wonderful county. We hope to continue providing this service. This is a nature lovers paradise... enjoy watching ducks, geese, blue heron, egrets, hawks, varieties of turtles, largemouth bass, catfish, bluegill, deer and many more animals. Please note that this hike is up and down a decent grade, so please plan accordingly and take this in consideration if any one in your party has physical limitations. During your stay you are welcome to enjoy the lake, we have kayaks, pedal boat, jon boat and stand up paddle boards located at the floating dock on the dam. You are welcome to use them all, weather permitting, just please return them to their proper place and in the same condition you found them in. The lake is stocked with bluegill, large-mouth bass, and catfish but it is nature so you may find other species that we don’t know about! We also provide firewood so you don't have to worry about packing it!!! Other things you will probably want to pack for your stay include: Sturdy shoes for walking to your camp site and exploring the trails. Please ask to see what is available/restricted during your stay. Flashlights/Headlamps for navigating outside after dark Bug spray Jacket/long pants (it can get chilly in the evenings in the spring and fall) Frequent questions and answers: *Can you drive up and park by the campsite - No, The camp site is a short 1000 ft hike from the parking area *How do you get your things to the camp site - Pack light... there is a hand cart to transport things up and down the hill. *Will there be other people on the property... there are two cabins on the other side of the lake... we have made every effort in layout and design of the property to maximize seclusion and privacy and the vast majority of our guest appreciate and are respectful of it. *Are there shared common areas and things - The lake is private and shared by the guest of the cabins... boats and life jackets are shared and are to be returned to the main dock area at the dam. *Can we swim in the lake - We have made no accommodations for swimming... it is a muddy bottom lake... Many people have swam in it... like all outdoor activities, they are at your own risk and should have adult supervision when appropriate. *Is there phone service.... service is spotty. *Is there a bathroom... there is a chemical toilet just a short walk from the campsite *Are there weeds and plant life in the lake - Yes, it is a natural body of water not a treated urban drainage ditch... we have at times had issues with vegetation and algae but we have made great strides to keep the lake clear and as natural as we can. *Can I bring a generator... no... we like to maintain the sound of nature for our guest. **Please check out our area tourism website for activities and area information** discover monroe county .org Check out our 5 star lodging reviews online for "The Nest Lodging and Rentals" located near Woodsfield, Ohio.

We are minutes from Amish country and happy to share the area and our property (and our gorgeous sunrises) with you.
