Primitive camping

Best for self-contained campers. There are no toilets, showers, or potable water at this Hipcamp.

At the other side of the harbour is Ingonish Ferry. At one time the road around the harbour did not exist. People, horses and goods came across the bar by means of a ferry. There were many wharves with wooden ships tied up. The long white building on the corner used to be on the bar. A walk along the bar will award you with a view of the Keltic Lodge. Continue straight at the corner and you will find a trail that will take you to Ingonish beach.Welcome to Smokey View! Stand at the edge of Ingonish Harbor, look left, see Cape Smokey. Look right, Ski Cape Smokey. Walk 10 min to Ingonish Beach, no park pass is required. Private deck and green space included. Sit on the deck and watch the sunrise. At the bottom of the road there is a great restaurant, NSLC, bank, gas station, and general store. Fresh pastry? Visit the Good Witch of the North at Sugar Witch, five minute walk. This back-in site is the perfect place for RVs 25 feet and under. Pets are permitted, as well as fires within local regulations. Steps away is a view of the Keltic Lodge above the ocean. This site is not suitable for small children.

Smokey View

This site is truly fabulous for an ocean lover! I felt like I had a piece of prime real estate on a very private little lot that was directly on the water - I could hear the calming waves all night! I stayed here in my 20 foot camper van, which, I would say, is the absolute maximum length to fit on the flat part of the lot. I found that slowly backing down the drive and then cutting back and forth a few times enabled me to have my van nicely settled on the pad with my slider door facing the ocean. The site was very well maintained with a great picnic table nestled in some trees and a fire pit area.

Hip Camp Bliss

Blair’s place is great. Very well thought areas to relax and enjoy the beauty. It was very quiet and I enjoyed the best nights sleep.

Wonderful site

Quiet and intimate with access to a beach. 30 min. Bike ride to Franey trailhead and less than 10 from ice cream. We enjoyed every minute staying there.

This location was absolutely epic! Blair was an awesome host and filled us on in on a number of local hikes and private spots - it was absolutely perfect - the site is so clean and with the gravel is absolutely perfect even with any rain - we will DEFINITELY be back! Thanks Blair!

Magnifique vue sur la mer!

Magnifique séjour de camping, emplacement de choix; splendide vue sur la mer, accès à une petite plage intime à même le terrain, aménagement pour feu de camp, espace gazonné avec chaises pour admirer la vue et parfait pour que les enfants y jouent. L’emplacement est proche des commodités; épicerie, NSLC, station de vidange, sentiers, plages. D’ailleurs Blair a été très aidant et accueillant en nous donnant de très bons conseils autant sur les sentiers, les restaurants, les plages, ce qui a été grandement apprécié autant du côté d’Ingonish que de Cheticamp. Nous avons d’ailleurs beaucoup aimé la recommandation de Blair pour le restaurant l’Abri Café; vue sur la mer, très bon fish and chip et guédille aux homards et en prime: un coucher de soleil incroyable. Merci encore Blair pour le superbe séjour. Ce fût un de nos arrêts préférés à travers les parcs nationaux et provinciaux de par l’intimité et la vue :).
