The land that we now farm was originally settled by our ancestors in the early 1800s. We are not sure of the exact date of when the first Reeves family moved into Little Sandy Mush, but we do know that the house that we still live in was built in 1840 by Malachi Reeves. The farm had humble beginnings like most farms in the early 1900s providing just enough for the family to survive, but when the tobacco boom came to western North Carolina Reeves Home Place Farm really took off. During the mid to late 1900s our small family farm became a large tobacco producing farm that allowed our grandfather, Burder Reeves, to continue farming on the same land that his ancestors had farmed for generations. We are currently the 7th generation to live and farm on the same land and we feel extremely blessed to be able to do so.
