Eden's Forest is located in Leicester NC, one of the remaining large farming communities in Buncombe County. It once totaled 150 acres, stretching from Sandy Mush Creek to the top of High Knob Mountain. In the mid 1800's a Buncombe County Judge ordered each land owner in the Sandy Mush/Leicester area to build a road through their property, so that a turnpike (also known as dover road) could be built to Asheville. A neighboring farmer by the name of H.W. Worley built the road through Eden for Mr. Davis. Mr. Worley was one of the few people who owned slaves and it was his slaves who carved out the portions of the turnpike on both properties. The road is still in use today and is the access to Ruth's Garden. Eden has been farmed for timber for the past 150 years and maintains alot of native floral and wildlife. Rusty Freck and Yvonne Cobourn are the owners of Eden's Forest, a 23 acre tract of the orginal Davis Family tract. Eden is rich in history and abundant in native plants and wildlife. They share a dream of sustaining the forest and preserving wildlife and being able to share it with their guests. By utlizing their dairy goats to remove invasive non native plants, along with the resident horse, Calypso, as pack team member, they are taking a different approach to forest management. You can often find them in their spare time, at Eden working towards that dream and preserving a vital part of agricultural.

Camp within our 150 year old forest, rich with native plants and wildlife. You may catch a glimpse of Ms. Turkey Hen and her babies eating breakfast. Or Ms. Bambi and her fawn may pass by your tent. Our herd of dairy goats will greet as you arrive, taking a break from their jobs of eating the non native invasive plants. We are offering a very private primitive camping platform with a fire ring, charcoal grill and a porta potty with a handwashing station. Guests will have to supply their own tent, camping gear and portable water. We are located just 16 miles from downtown Asheville and all the micro breweries. Due to the primitive nature of Eden, people under the age of 8 are restricted. Since we have livestock (dairy goats and a horse) we cannot accept pets. Please don't cut any trees or plants, so that future guests and generations may enjoy them.
