Stony Rose Farms is located in the beautiful and historic Hudson Valley. Our area has a rich farming heritage and our land was once part of a much larger farm. We purchased the land in February of 2020 and have created our own off grid paradise full of chickens, flowers, bees and lots of different types of plants. We are NOT a commercial campground, we are a working farm that offers Agrotourism stays and experiences. Our hens and roosters play an important role in the sustainable agricultural practices we use on the farm. Our lovely ladies provide us with delicious and colorful eggs each day. Your breakfast at the farm can't get any fresher... sunny side up eggs dripping yolk onto fresh local bread, fresh melons and berries still warm from the sun, sweet honey and local milk in your coffee. A true farm to table meal is possible year round in our beautiful valley! Most weekends we offer a breakfast basket filled with goodies produced on our farm or by other local growers. The back of our property is also wooded. If you are quiet you are certain to see birds, squirrels, chipmunks, turkey and deer as you walk along the creek and explore the mossy rocks and tiny waterfalls. If you follow the marked bushwack trail you'll be guided over fallen trees and through breaks in historic stone walls, then across the creek and up the hill you will come out onto the O&W Rail Trail. This 27 mile trail is perfect for hiking, biking and strolling. In some segments it is smoothly paved and others it is gravel. From this trail you can access multiple parks, libraries and museums if you are looking for a long hike or ride. We are centrally located between Kingston, Kerhonkson, Woodstock and New Paltz and all are about a scenic 20 minutes drive. The NYS Thruway is less than 10 minutes away if you are traveling through. The Rondout Valley is home to multiple breweries, amazing restaurants, luxurious spas, places to kayak, fish, swim, rock climb... or you could spend your entire visit at the farm reading a good book and enjoying beautiful sunsets. PLEASE NOTE: -We are a working farm that uses sustainable organic methods. -There are bugs (ants, ticks, bees, mosquitos, etc) -We keep the grass at the campsites short but you will have long grass around you. That long grass is home to numerous kinds of birds that only live in that type of habitat. - Poison ivy is also possible when out in nature, we do NOT spray any chemicals on ANY of our land. -The sites are within earshot to the chicken coops, we DO have roosters and you WILL hear them. -There are wild animals around the farm. You should store away all food and garbage when you are not at the campsite. We would like to keep them cautious of humans and not a nuisance! -On holiday weekends we do have a minimum night stay.

The Rose Comb Rooster - Tent & RV
I loved the spot I chose for tent camping. Once I got there and started setting up Kara came over and introduced herself, she was extremely pleasant. My spot was the perfect space to kick back and relax. The openness and the night sky was perfect! I purchased the breakfast basket which came with the homemade fresh oatmeal bread, dozen eggs, honey and some apple. It was all set up on the table along with the wood I purchased as well. The bread was the best homemade bread I've ever eaten. Even though it was on a working farm, I was never disturbed by anyone and felt very secluded! The roosters were near by but weren't a bother to me or my two dogs. I will definitely be going again! Great first experience camping this way. Thanks again for a great experience!!!

Mossy Stones Tent Site
The area is so nice and had it not been so wet, the campsite may have been better. The site is off of the road (not much area to park there that is off of the driveway enough to feel safe)and there were wet stones covered in sopping wet leaves which made taking loads down to the site unsafe. The wood was soaked through and made it very difficult to start a fire. The chicken meal was very expensive for what was given (tinfoil wrapped shriveled potatoes as the veg) and the grate that was left for cooking on was rusted through, bent and unusable. The review states that there are cooking items there, but I think they just mean the grate and we never did find the sink it says there was. The place for camping is not level and was really not ideal for moist environs (definitely bring tons of bug spray and tarps). We would have stayed there for a lot less money and not felt so grouchy afterwards. Please fix the solar lights (none were on or working), don’t leave wood on the ground for fires when it’s been raining, level the picnic table area, blow off a path through the rocks leading down, clear or level the area, or maybe just move the site since it is at the bottom of the ravine? Maybe the field camping would have been better. The chicken itself (after we just pan cooked it since the fire was not happening) did taste good but maybe include butter or herbs at that price and more veggies like the kebab as pictured. Keep on at it!
