Farm, Field, and Forest

2 sites ¡ RVs, Tents100 acres ¡ Parish, NY
Our 80-acre property has been inhabited since the 1860's (that's how old the house is), but the north ~30 acres have remained forested and contain fern groves, sugar maples we tap for syrup, a small freshwater spring, wild turkeys and deer. Another ~20 acres are pasture, with lots of birds (sometimes rare ones!) and wildflowers. Our farmhouse, firewood, barn, chicken coop and vegetable garden are all closer to the road - the pond, birch grove, and berry patch are more secluded. Learn more about this land:We are a small family "farm" with lots of spare acreage to camp on. Pitch a tent close to our barn to be near the goats, pigs, chickens, or highland cattle, a bit farther out to be near the secluded pond and berry bushes - or way out in the 20 acres of wildflower fields or 30 acres of woods that house deer, fox, and rabbits!

Twisted Trails

39 sites ¡ RVs13 acres ¡ Williamstown, NY
Come and enjoy the great outdoors! With plenty to do or not it’s up to you. Trails to explore a brook to splash in fields and forest to frolic in with a few beautiful views. I only ask that if you bring it in take it with you. Camping is an outdoor activity involving overnight stays away from home, either without shelter or using basic shelter such as a tent or a recreational vehicle. Typically participants leave developed areas to spend time outdoors in more natural ones in pursuit of activities providing them enjoyment or an educational experience. The night (or more) spent outdoors distinguishes camping from day-tripping, picnicking, and other similarly short-term recreational activities. Camping as a recreational activity became popular among elites in the early 20th century. With time, it grew in popularity among other socioeconomic classes. Modern campers frequent publicly owned natural resources such as national and state parks, wilderness areas, and commercial campgrounds. In a few countries, such as Sweden and Scotland, public camping is legal on privately-held land as well. Camping is a key part of many youth organizations around the world, such as Scouting, which use it to teach both self-reliance and teamwork.

The best camping near Southwick Beach State Park guide

Overview

About

Welcome to a popular beach getaway known for outstanding swimming and just plain relaxing. Sensitive coastal sand dunes frame the beach that stretches for 3,500 feet along Lake Ontario. Have fun in the winter time when hiking trails convert to cross country skiing and snowshoeing trails.

Arrive in the summertime when water-based activities are popular. Put your boat in at a ramp for fishing opportunities. Stretch your blanket out on the wide, sandy beach to worship the sun. This place is popular, so get ready for a lot of people in July and August.

Hiking trails take you among the sand dunes in the Lakeview Wildlife Management Area. Walk through a rare freshwater marsh in New York with plenty of cottonwood trees.

Paddle through a few creeks and several ponds in your canoe or kayak. Believe it or not, most of the wildlife management area sits on sand rather than dirt.

The popular campground has 100 campsites for RVs or tents. Man sites are mere steps from the beach.
