Please note the bad reviews were because my land was devasted by floods. All these images here are current as of Sept 2023. It has a fresh growth of wild couch which is soft underfoot and perfect for tents. I ask you please don't park on this nice grass, as it will dig it up and ruin it for other campers. There is half an acre to park, or even on the nature strip! The Hawkesbury River is located to the west and north of Sydney, and the River along with its tributary, the Nepean River, almost encircle the metropolitan region of Sydney. The Lower Portland region is semi-rural with small settlements amongst the bush, and access to state and national parks which are great for bushwalking, mountain hikes and wildlife watching. The Hawkesbury River itself runs all the way to the ocean north of Sydney but at the campsite there is plenty of opportunity for swimming, kayaking/canoeing and fishing or just lazing about on the river's edge. A couple of kilometres up the road is a lovely cafe bar. This campsite offers the perfect getaway for a wonderful weekender location. This campsite is located on a large block right on the creek which opens up to the Hawkesbury River. Campfires and pets are permitted however there are no amenities or supplies so you will need to be a fully sufficient camper.**DO NOT FOLLOW THE LINK ON HOW TO GET THERE FROM THESE MAPS. APPARENTLY YOU WILL END UP IN THE WRONG PLACE, SO TYPE THE ADDRESS IN YOURSELF** Please note this camping spot was devastated by floods shortly after listing it, and that is why it got a couple of bad rDieseviews. These are NEW and current photos. I have only just relisted this block Sept '23 . It has grown lovely wild couch all over, and I have been mowing and weeding it to keep it nice so parking on the right rougher side would be appreciate this way the ground will be remain soft and flat and not ripped up by car tyres for those wishing to use tents. It has some fire wood ready to burn if have water. This campsite is located on a large block right on the creek which opens up to the Hawkesbury River. If you are at the paradise cafe and you were driving out the gates, you would turn left and approximately 1.2 km on the left-hand side before a tight bend to the left

Terrific Tenting
Relaxing&peaceful, but don’t tent
The grass was short and soft and the view of the river is nice (no access to the river). The area is huge, especially because we were the only ones to book this listing on this particular night :) So we had plenty of space for our ute and trailer camper. Nice and flat too. However, the site is literally on the side of the road. Despite what the title lends to suggest, I can’t say i’d recommend tenting here….. there was no privacy from the road which is 2m away (not to mention dangerous), nor from the house/ski park across the creek which is easily seen from the site, and vice versa. Definitely glad we had the safety and privacy of a camper trailer, would not have stayed here if all we had was a tent. Just too dangerous and noisy. Thanks for the stay, we had a nice relaxing night, just don’t agree with the tenting-suitable title.

Terrific Tenting
Terrible tenting. Probably the worst location next to a road. No security, not good for fishing as planned to have water access but its not viable. Property didnt even have a fence. GPS location also was not the same as address listed spent nearly an hour trying to find the place with no phone reception which made it worse. Its basically camping on the side of the road.

Unfortunately due to the floods which has devastated the area it is not a nice place to camp. Once cleaning from debris etc is done and the grass is back it may be nice again
