Sacred Nectar Sanctuary

10 sites ¡ RVs, Tents280 acres ¡ North Sandwich, NH
One of Sandwich's most treasured gems are the fields of the Intervale. This Historic Farm was purchased by Townsend Thorndike off the original McCrillis family that settled the land here. It was his place to get away from the busy life. As time went on and his money dwindled plans to sell off some of the land arose. Townsend's son, Nick, foresaw a devastating development of conventional homes diminishing the soul of this sacred land that held so much magic. So, Nick decided to move back to the homestead to create an example of what a healthy life for the land and its inhabitants looks like. Hip Camp is the first step towards sharing and opening up the land to create an ecofriendly, Intentional Community. Nick and his ever-growing tribe are creating a holistic, educational, retreat, workshop, and event center where people can come to learn how to co-exist in a harmonious relationship with nature and each other. Thank you for being a part of the healing <3 We hope to hear from you <3

9 sites ¡ Lodging, RVs, Tents107 acres ¡ Fairlee, VT
We are a 107-acre forest and farm animal rescue. Sleep with the sheep, alpacas, donkeys, potbellied pigs, and rabbits when you pitch your tent or park your camper on our Vermont Farm! Reserve the group site and sleep in the middle of the action! Co-located in the open, grassy area with the free-roaming farm rescues is our RV site. Co-located sites share a community fire ring, so it's a great way to meet and make new friends! Don't have a tent or RV? Spend a magical night in "The Greenhouse" (it's a real, working greenhouse that doubles as accommodations for those looking for a more "glamping" experience). Want a little privacy? Reserve one of our two tricked-out Tent Deck sites, (Buddha North & Grandmother Pine) each with its own picnic table, private fire ring, and commercial-grade park grill. Nestled, discretely in the forest adjacent to the area where the animals are, you will feel like you are in the middle of nowhere even though you are less than a 5-minute walk from your car! Looking for something a bit more remote and spectacular? Hike a half-mile to the Big Sky Tent Deck. An incredible vista awaits you for a little effort! Need gear? We have it for rent, from cast iron grill baskets and griddles to make cooking over a charcoal grill or fire a breeze to tents to 1- and 2- burner propane stoves to tarps to water containers. We even have an Anker Portable Power Station and Portable Kerosene Heater for rent! Need Supplies? Charcoal? Propane? We've got it. ----- We are a small non-profit (501c3). BEAR SAFETY & FOOD STORAGE REQUIREMENTS Following safe food storage practices protects both you and the bears: Never leave food or coolers unattended. SiloSide Barn and Homestead

2 sites ¡ Lodging, Tents10 acres ¡ Barnet, VT
The SiloSide barn and homestead is better known around town as the "Old Somers Farm" in reference to the day when the barn housed 60 head of cows. The farm was a part of the Cabot Creamery Cooperative, and closed this era in the late 1980s. Prior to being a dairy farm consisting of over 500 acres, the property served as a tavern, inn, tannery, and has always been a traditional, well-loved farmhouse. Our farmhouse was built in 1785, and the barn built around the 1830s and expanded in 1941. The soil here is rich, and the forest full of wildlife. We've named our home "SiloSide" as tribute to the magic we feel on the non-road facing, silo-side of the barn, where you'll be camping.

The best camping near Franconia Notch State Park guide

Overview

About

In the heart of the White Mountain National Forest, Franconia Notch is the perfect setting for adventure. Jump in Echo Lake, climb the stone cliffs, or mountain bike along the Recreational Trail. The park’s 10 hiking trails include a section of the Appalachian Trail, as well as the otherworldly Flume Gorge path. If you prefer to check out the scenery from the comfort of your car, you can drive on the I-93 between the high peaks of the Kinsman and Franconia mountain ranges then hop on the Cannon Mountain tram for an elevated view. The forested Lafayette Place Campground has 97 tent sites, while Cannon Mountain has seven sites for RVs with hookups.

Tips for snagging a campsite

  1. Of Lafayette’s 97 sites, 88 are by reservation only and seven are offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
  2. Reservations are not required for the RV campground but are highly encouraged, especially in summer.
  3. Bookings can easily be secured online or by phone, up to 11 months in advance.

When to go

As the most popular activities in the park are swimming, paddling and fishing in Echo Lake, summer is the busiest season. There’s plenty to do year-round, however. Hiking and biking are excellent during the cooler months of spring and fall, while winter offers the chance to snowshoe on multi-use trails and ski in the park's Cannon Mountain Ski Area.

Know before you go

  • During the off-season, between mid-October through May, only electricity is available so RVs need to be self-contained.
  • Bike rentals are available from Sport Thoma in Lincoln. Shuttle service to Franconia Notch is available.
  • Pets are permitted in the designated dog walks near the Tramway and Flume parking lots only, not in the campground.
