Get away from it all at this quaint, hideout cabin and camp site deep in the National Forest. 14 miles behind a locked gate on an old forest service road, you will find true solitude that is so hard to come by these days.
In the summer, this is the perfect escape for the family. Ride ATV’s on the road, pick huckleberries, cook over the campfire, enjoy great views of the Mission Mountains and Deep Creek mountains, star gaze, or just enjoy the peace and quiet.
In the fall, this is the perfect camp set up for a fun hunt in an area that holds elk, mule deer, whitetail deer, black bear, mountain lion, wolves, grouse, moose, and more! This cabin lease provides access to over 15,000 acres (24 sq miles) of otherwise un-huntable national forest and timber company land behind a locked gate. 16+ miles of forest service road behind the gate provides a great opportunity for lots of glassing from many different angles. There are many opportunities for cross-canyon, longer range shots as well as great spot and stalk scenarios.
Snowfall can make for a great opportunity to drive the road to cut elk, deer, or moose tracks. Use the Grave ATV/Jeep trail to set up for a great downhill hunt. Have a friend drop you off on the top of the ridge and hunt downhill to the road or camp.
The cabin is cozy and holds 2 bunk beds, 3 twin and 1 full bed. A propane heater is used to heat the cabin. The cabin has a wash basin and small table inside, and a picnic table outside. There is no running water, but some water is provided and available from a nearby spring. Plan to bring enough water depending on the length of your stay and number of guests. A 5th wheel or camper could be towed to the property during times of little snow. The grade of the road is not steep. There are many great locations to set up wall tents or other temporary dwellings to provide more sleeping locations.
Cellular coverage is available at the property. 1 or 2 bars of 3G data coverage is available (signal is weak but you can reliably get texts and phone calls out from the upper lookouts)
