Washington State Park is known for two things: the largest amount of ancient petroglyphs discovered in all of Missouri and the awesome Big River. The Ozarks tower above this park’s green hills, wildflower fields, and old stonemason buildings, all practically begging you to take a step up the mountains and find the most expansive and incredible view. Tread slowly on the 1,000 Steps Trail, or backpack through the protected, rugged wilderness of the Hardwood Natural Area. As for the river, the best way to experience it’s cool, relaxing waters is to get in a tube and float down it! Whether you choose a kayak, canoe, raft, or tube, the most important thing is simply gettin' in that water! You can also fish these waters, sit on their grassy shores, and pitch a tent in a riverside camp. If you listen closely enough, you’ll hear this park screaming, “Get here now!”
