You’re the apple of our eyes, Pomme De Terre State Park! This park’s name actually means “apple of the earth,” mainly because it’s sweet, dude. And you’ll see why. Take a gander of the Springfield Plateau by walking the Hermitage or Pittsburg sides of the water. Here, you’ll see native grassland, wide open savannas, and the Ozark forests. You can serenely fish on the waters of Pomme De Terre Lake, the only place in Missouri where you can catch one of those big muskies. You can also hike the Indian Point Trail for the best overlook of the lake, swim from the sandy shores, or have a lakeside picnic next to playgrounds. The forests are green, the campgrounds are clean, and the fish bitin’ is mean. This park is just the cherry on top!
