Overview

About

Walking along the cool, shady Des Moines River; tiptoeing over little creeks and frolicking through prairie grasslands; sleeping in the fresh, open air nestled beneath huge oak trees. That sounds nice right about now, doesn’t it? If you are in need of some serious R&R, Kilen Woods State Park will hit the spot! This breath of fresh air is surrounded by miles of rolling Minnesota farmland, so it’s guaranteed to be quiet and gorgeous. You can stretch your legs a bit by hiking to Dinosaur Ridge Overlook, an expansive outlook of the entire river valley; or get your fishin’ and canoein’ on and float downriver. While this park is absolutely perfect in summer, the winter snows turn the sloping hills into a sledding wonderland!

  • Check for cancellations regularly, especially close to your desired dates.
  • Consider visiting during weekdays for better availability and a quieter experience.
