Hiawatha National Forest
There is no finer place to be in the mitten state of Michigan than Hiawatha National Forest! Dramatic shorelines, six historic lighthouses and northern hardwood forests will set the tone for an epic adventure while the Great Lakes (Superior, Huron, and Michigan) set the backdrop. Jump on a horse and hit the trails, explore waterfalls or comb the beach for shells. You’ll be soaking up the sun in the summer, and in the fall, your eyes aren’t gonna believe it. Hiawatha is a prime spot for leaf peeping and the perfect transition into cross country skiing and ice climbing at Grand Island during the winter months.
