O Me, O Mio

1 site · Lodging1 acre · Mio, MI
A rustic, permalog style cabin that is suited to accommodate up to nine. This is a cabin to help disconnect from the hustle and bustle of our chaotic lives. There is limited cell signal, no internet and no local or cable channels. The cabin is pet friendly, as I believe our pets are an extension of our families and should get to vacation with everyone rather than boarded (dogs only are allowed). Primary source of heat is a propane wall furnace. There is an electric fireplace in the living room. In the summer there is a window AC unit at the cabin and a fan for the loft (it does get hot up there). The cabin is very close (1/4 mile) to the AuSable River where you can easily launch boats, canoes and more. The ORV trail head is just a 1/4 mile down the road. This is also the perfect cabin for hunting, fishing, hiking and trail riding. Be sure to keep an eye out for an eagle or two. Also had deer tracks in the yard.

The best camping near Harrisville State Park guide

Overview

About

Come get some sweet lovin’ from mother nature and by sweet lovin’ we mean the sexiest damn lakefront views right from your tent. They say looks aren’t everything, but seeing Lake Huron aglow in the sparkling sun the moment you wake up sure does soften any reservations you may have had about sleepin’ outside. It may just be possible that coming here, you will find the best beach you’ve ever been to, right smack dab in the middle of the country. Beach it up 'til you're dizzy and wind it down on a chill 2 mile trail to check out the grounds and admire some midwest pines. Must've been a good date with nature, she’s inviting you to spend the night. Camp out or do some cabining, either way nature will make you comfortable!

When to go

The ideal time to visit Harrisville State Park is during the summer months, from June to August, when the weather is warm and the lake is inviting. However, autumn also offers a spectacular display of fall colors. Winters can be harsh with heavy snowfall, making some areas less accessible.

Know before you go

  • Ensure you have a Recreation Passport for park entry, as it's required for all visitors.
  • Check trail conditions and weather forecasts before your visit to stay safe and prepared.
  • Accessibility varies across the park, so inquire ahead if you have specific needs.
  • Remember to pack out all your trash and respect the park's natural environment.
  • Facilities may vary by season, so confirm availability of restrooms and water sources before your trip.
