The house is a replication of a First Period, central chimney, 17th Century house that exists in Medfield, Massachusetts. This house I'm offering for rent is located in the quiet, rural town of Wendell (population 900), Massachusetts, located just north of the Quabbin Reservoir. It is situated on 15 acres of wooded property, and is approximately 200 yards from the main house. The rental is entirely private and cannot be seen from the main house. The house is paneled with random width, wide-pine boards, with 19 inches being the widest, and has leaded casement windows. It has a water well and an outhouse. It is heated by a Rumford-style brick fireplace, with a bee hive oven and fireplace crane. The house walls are insulated with R11 insulation. There is an upstairs section with two twin, rope beds, and the main floor has a full-size rope bed.
It is important to note that there is no cell phone or internet service, no pets are on the property, and pets are not allowed, with no exceptions. There can be wild animals on the property such as Fischer cats, raccoons, deer, black bears, coyotes and moose. Dry firewood and water will be provided. And, for an additional fee, a 17th Century dinner will be provided upon request.
The area is endowed with a multitude of hiking trails, ponds and lakes, cross country skiing in winter, off road cycling, road cycling, kayaking and canoeing in season, The property is located 45 minutes from Historic Deerfield and approximately 1 hour from Historic Sturbridge Village.
