Creature comforts
Enjoy the comforts of home—including flush toilets, showers, and a kitchen.
We are a small vegetable, fruit and herb farm that has just been getting started over the past few years after relocating from farming in California. Our property is an old farm that historically was primarily used for pasture. We have several vegetable gardens, a berry patch and two small fruit orchards and a forest that campers are welcome to explore. There are about two acres of pasture, but no animals currently grazing, only the chickens that may or may not be within a fenced in area depending on the day and season. We are currently selling produce from our gardens and eggs from our free roaming chickens along with our kitchen products produced on farm in our licensed farm kitchen. Learn more about this land: Pitch your tent near the creek in our forest or hilltop with a view of surrounding farms or in a pasture where you will wake with the morning sun. We have various locations perfect for setting up your space for the night. We do often have two bookings a night on the weekends, it is a first come first pick option for the sites. However, with larger groups we may require to set up in the forest site near the creek or near the farm building might be another option for those who do not want to walk. We are a small diverse vegetable, herb and fruit farm so we welcome campers anywhere as long as they respect the boundries of the gardens and the orchards.  All sites may require walking a little from your car, but some cars are able to get a little closer to the sites(depending on the car & the weather).  We also have a small flock of egg laying hens that roams the property along with nine friendly barn cats and a friendly(but big) farm dog that you may see around the farm.  There are countless species of birds that can be seen around as well as colorful butterflies, moths and dragon flies regularly flying about.  Campers have access to a rustic bathroom(no hot water unless you boil it) and a partial kitchen as well as a charcoal grill, community fire pit and a picnic table.  If you would like to cook onsite we have minimal amount of cookware available to use and you can buy from the farm whatever seasonal produce and/or eggs you might need.   Our farm is down the road from wineries, breweries, a tea room and various other Frederick county attractions.  There are numerous historic sites within a short drive such as Harpers Ferry and Civil War battlefields, including Gettysburg and Antietam.  We are a 15 minute drive to historic downtown Frederick, 10 minutes from the center of historic New Market while being about an hour from downtown D.C. and 45 minutes to Baltimore.  Our central location is great for site seeing around the area during the day, then you can spend the evenings relaxing around the farm. * For small RVs we can accomodate you in some space near the farm buildings. **The hilltop has some flat areas, but there is also a good slope depending on where you set up, so it is really best for campers with only one tent.  This is next to a newly planted orchard, so there is also the option of some flat areas around the little fruit trees. Some cars are able to drive up the hill to park on the hiltop, depends on your car, but we are very strict about no driiving in the orchard.  ***Plenty of space for larger groups as well in the grove site in our forest, near the creek. If your group has more than 4 adults we may require that you use this space as it is most appropriate for larger groups. Some cars are able to drive up the hill to get a little closer, but be prepared to walk up from the parking space near the barns which takes 3-5 minutes or a two minute walk from the hilltop.Pitch your tent near the creek in our forest or hilltop with a view of surrounding farms or in a pasture where you will wake with the morning sun.  We have various locations perfect for setting up your space for the night.  We are a small diverse vegetable, herb and fruit farm just getting started.  We also have a small flock of egg laying hens that roams the property along with three friendly barn cats and two feral cats that will keep a distance.  There are countless species of birds that can be seen around the farm as well as colorful butterflies, moths and dragon flies regularly flying about. *** After a tornado that hit the farm in May, we currently only have two sites available; one on the hilltop(picture of the hammock) and one larger site in the forest close to the creek is open, but the small site next to the creek is closed until we can clear more fallen trees.  Also, there is some space to set up near the farm buildings if that is preferred, but it is not private.  The hilltop has some flat areas, but there is also a good slope depending on where you set up.  This is next to a newly planted orchard, so there is also the option of some flat areas around the little fruit trees.  Plenty of space for larger groups as well, especially if you are willing to walk back into the woods.  On the hilltop there might not be enough flat space for more than 2 or 3 small tents unless setting up around the little trees in the new orchard.  Some cars are able to drive up the hill, but be prepared to walk up from the parking space near the barns which takes 3-5 minutes and it is about an 8- 10 minute walk to the larger site in the woods.

Eaters Acres Farm Camp
Cozy, good views, little pokey
So cozy! You can tell some things are a work in progress, overall as advertised. Hilltop site is the only one with car access, so if you are the type to use your car as storage or as your sleeping spot be aware of the following: big bramble bushes, limited flat surfaces!, narrow car path to spot. We were in a Subaru and were able to make it but if you're any wider it may be a problem. It's a short walk to the mobile home/bathhouse which has access to power to recharge your batteries. The mobile home is in repair, so it's not all functional, which was more than fine for us since we just needed a bathroom. Make sure to bring a saw and table as well. The farm cats were friendly and happy to give us a hello, the chickens as well! The hosts are so nice and available if we needed anything. So many fun things to do nearby as well.

Eaters Acres Farm Camp
Couple of cool sites here. The hilltop was a little short on flat space but we got a tent set up and hung a hammock between the tree and a Jeep. Got to meet some chickens, cats and the farm dog and had a good night's sleep. Zero issues with barking dogs mentioned in other reviews I should mention. The cookies and hot sauce were awesome!

Eaters Acres Farm Camp
catherine was an accommodating host, with daily clear communication even “can’t text driving” messages were sent. complications on her end lead to me shortening my stay - she canceled the booking to ensure a full refund & i rebooked for 1 night. the on cite facilities are very “rustic” as others have stated. the flush toilet (leaks) in a bathroom with a door that closes but does not lock. 1 gallon potable water was provided in jugs for me to boil - tho there are multiple fire pits on cite i would highly recommend bringing a camp stove & providing all your own cookware.

Eaters Acres Farm Camp
Hill tent site not flat, plus....
We are sorry to say we can't recommend camping at Eaters Acres as the hostess is nice. It seems like they are just not ready to host guests who expect amenities as advertised, but if you are geared up to backpack, you should do well. We were expecting potable water, a functional kitchen, and a shower as promoted in the description. Thankfully we brought our own stove since their stove in the kitchen had no gas running to it and we had to abandon our plan of cooking dinner in there. And no running water in the kitchen either, so I guess it's a place with counters if counters are something you value when you are camping. The access to drinking water was on request via the host who asked my husband if we were ok drinking water from their workshop that was a little dirty as she described it. Bizarre... We have a 3 year old. Do you think we want to drink water that is slightly dirty? He politely declined and she agreed to fill our water jugs with water from her home which was thoughtful. We left early on our departure day as it was too much of a pain to ask the hostess for more water so that we could cook breakfasT. As we had 94 degree heat, my hubby ended up with rashy skin as the shower didn't work. The property lacks signage to camping areas which resulted in her other guest driving through a field on a foot path at 9:45PM with headlights blaring into my tent. While an unpleasant way to wake up, the silver lining is that I saw a large shooting star with a green tail!

Eaters Acres Farm Camp
Rustic. Just what I needed!
I loved camping at Eaters Acres. I set up camp at the Hilltop which offered a hammock and fire pit. Nice and private. I would say quiet too but cows moo at random times at night and the roosters tend to crow earlier than I would like 😂. Sleeping under the stars was amazing. A red Fox greeted me in the morning and joyfully pranced away. I loved every but of it. I did use 2 of their items to cook but better to bring your own camp kitchen items. As the trailer is more of just a place with a bathroom. Plenty of firewood around. I was able to drive my car up the hill past the chicken coop, closer to my camping spot which was convenient so I could keep food in my car overnight. Location was great for me too, only 40min away. I will consider going back again.
