Whitewater rafting in canyons of granite anyone? Head on up, down, or over to the Penobscott River Corridor where the pine state folks will show you how it is done. This area is famous for whitewater rafting and fishing excursions that are guaranteed to make your jaw drop and heart race. The corridor is part of the 740 mile Northern Forest Canoe Trail that runs between Quebec and New York. If you ever dreamed of a Lewis and Clark style adventure, the Penobscott River might just be your stepping stone. What’s more is the place is rumored to have some of the state’s most epic swimming holes (let’s keep this a secret folks). If being a land lubber is more your thing you can enjoy hiking trails, mountain biking, wildlife viewing, or warming up by the campfire.
