Just a 30 minute drive from downtown New Orleans, a trek to Bayou Segnette State Park will have you skipping across the water in no time. Explore the tidal marshes, swamps, and inlets of the bayou by foot, canoe, or cabin cruiser, and try your luck casting for both freshwater and saltwater fish. Birds and birders flock to this lush wildlife habitat. If you’re lucky, you’ll catch glimpses of rare migratory and nesting birds of all shapes and sizes. Swimming is not allowed in the wilds (gators, you know), but the good folks behind the scenes have built a fabulous wave pool for wet and wild adventures. You’ll also find primo campsites, a rocking playground, and deep, dark hiking trails. Bayou Segnette State Park will help you unplug and recharge any time of year.
