It’s time for a getaway, don’t you think? Take a break and get in your much-needed R&R at General Butler State Resort Park! You don’t have to give up showers, toilets, running water or paved roads here, but you’ll gain crystal blue waters of 30-acre Butler Lake, green and spacious campsites and just the right amount of deep-woods hiking trails. While there’s no motorboats allowed on the lake, there’s plenty of space and quiet to rent a pedal boat or a canoe and float leisurely in the sunlight. After you’ve got your relaxin’ on, take a tour of the Butler-Turpin State Historic House, the old, red-brick, federal-style residence of the Butler family in the 1800’s. And you definitely don’t want to miss out on the highest overlook of the county, where you’ll see the impressive panorama of the Kentucky and Ohio rivers. Take a breather because this park is just a short trip from the hustle-and-bustle of Louisville and Lexington, so no precious unwind time will go to waste.
