Formerly the Legendary "McKinley Ranch". This site is within walking distance to the exact location of the Norton Meteorite crash spot. Many pieces were found but the largest chunk was taken by a University. A piece is also in the Smithsonian. Also the largest contiguous piece of grassland pasture in Norton County, this property sits on the state line in between Nebraska and Kansas. Rich with Native and Pioneer heritage, Indian camp sites, old creek crossings and buffalo wallers can all be seen. A crumbling schoolhouse foundation makes for great exploration with metal detectors and many scenic viewpoints atop bluffs make for wonderful photo opportunities. Don't forget to sit quietly and watch the wildlife passing by. Learn more about this land: Tuck your RV or tent away within a Fortress of empty Grain Bins. 1 minute walk to the creek. Bin-top perch and whitetail or mule deer and turkey watching. Other wildlife includes, squirrels, badgers, oppossums, raccoons, rabbits, coyotes, bobcats and an occasional mountain lion! Cacophone of birds in the morning. Otherwise silent, scenic and mesmerizing. Site sits 50 yards from abandoned 100-yard deep silo with concrete floor and 12 ft dirt wall. Enjoy the site immensely. Enjoyed listening to the birds and the cows and otherwise just peace and quiet out there. Would recommend anybody that wants to stay for a night and be away from everything.

Poorly Maintained
I had a poor and frustrating experience. There were weeds 3 and 4 feet tall, with stickers that attached to me and my dog. Diving in, the weeds rubbed on the underside of my truck and my high clearance boondock teardrop camper. The weeds also scratched the sides. Cell service was poor, but I finally got thru to the host. He did come and mow the weeds. However, they had gotten so big that the stubble remained long, course and scratchy. Putting down my astroturf rugs did not solve the problem. In the morning I discovered that the water hydrant would not work. The host came out to TRY to fix it and left a little bottled water. Not sufficient for a shower or washing dishes. As the mowed weeds dried, so did the stickers they had, which made them even more clingy to clothes, flesh and my poor dog. She could not even find a place to lay down where she would not get stickers or poke by the weed stubble. Many stuck in her paws and were so painful for her that I could not touch her to remove them. We were both miserable and left ain the morning - day early. I requested that the host give me a refund only for the day I left early. I have had no response. BTW: this is the most expensive place I have stayed in nearly 7 weeks of travel and was by far the least enjoyable.

Getting away from it all
This site is definitely allows you to get away from it all. It is in rural area on the Kansas / Nebraska border, with nothing but cornfield and pasture for miles around. The stars are amazing at night. Bullseye is very communicative and the directions to the RV site are very good. The RV site is level and the power source easily accessible. If you are looking for a change of pace from standard RV campgrounds, this place will provide that.

Secluded Stargazing...
We had a wonderful night at this beautiful, extremely secluded, and rural campsite. Despite some issues getting there, we really enjoyed our stay, and the land felt truly special. The campsite is a decently-sized patch of grass and field located next to some grain silos at the edge of a large cornfield. It is completely silent at night. It is a great place to see stars, and we were able to witness the entire Milky Way in great clarity. Our host was exceptionally kind and informative, and personally drove out to escort us to the site after the GPS coordinates took us the wrong way. The campsite is on Road W-6, and is precisely 10.4 miles due north of the intersection of 383 and Rt. 36, which in turn is about 6.7 miles west of the town of Norton, KS. (The town of Lenora is further away.) After driving north on W-6, past Road F (stop sign) and Road D, the campsite is at the end of a grassy, somewhat obscured driveway that has some ruts in it - our little sedan made it ok, but it was an adventure. Bring bug spray as there were some gnats and mosquitos around dusk, but the rest of the time it was super minimal. All said - this was totally worth it, and I'd highly recommend this special and very private piece of land to camp on. We would return in a heartbeat. The seclusion and stars are worth the trek!
