The lake is known as a major stopover point for migrating birds including pelicans and bald eagles among a whopping 200 species that pass through this area. They must be attracted to the 43 species of fish, the gorgeous wildflowers, and the lush and diverse vegetation and wildlife habitat that surrounds the area. Once you come here you will definitely understand the attraction.
The best time to visit Elk Rock State Park is during the spring and fall when the weather is mild and the natural scenery is at its most vibrant. Summer offers warm days perfect for water activities, though it's also the busiest season. Winters can be harsh, with some facilities closed, so it's less ideal for a visit.
