Another popular draw is that the Great River Bike Trail runs right through! It’s a beautiful ride from the campground to nearby Savanna, IL. There is so much to do in the surrounding area: hiking and climbing at Palisades State Park, restaurants, bars and shopping in Savanna, museums and more. But enjoying a peaceful time at the campground, having a bonfire, watching the sunset on the lake and seeing the stars at night is really what it’s about. The Ski Club has been a cooperative club for decades and members still ski and sled here. We are hosting a camping event for friends and Hip-campers Labor Day weekend (September 3rd - September 6th). The Club is easy to access off of Interstate 39. There is a gas station a half mile away and the city of Rockford is only a 10-15 minute drive away. People can camp in tents, car/vans, campers, or RVs in the mowed grass area. There is a well with limited amounts of water that is not drinkable but can be used to wash. There is a barn separating the campfire ring and the main house which has chickens in it and will be closed off, and also gives you the feel of a little more privacy. We have lots of different beautiful birds that visit the property as well as other animals. We also have two silos on the property that you are free to take photos with before leaving. The rock river is a short drive away with multiple places to put your boat in. There are also many parks and attractions close by as well. Family friendly environment.

Occasionally you'll hear the coyotes, but then keep their distance. The stars shine peacefully and the sunsets are picturesque (most afternoons). The pond is a great place to swim and fish. The hillside is a nice walk for exercise or take the easier route and sit under the great oak tree in the other pasture. Campsites are off the road, behind our main home. You won't find a sign...we keep it simple.

Return to nature at this charming state park. Start at White Pines Inn, originally constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s. Nearby log cabins offer great places to stay during your getaway.

Hike along seven trails, three of which are easy and less than 1 mile. Take plenty of photos of the vine-covered limestone bluffs overlooking Spring and Pine Creeks. Ski along 4.5 miles of trails in the winter. The limestone bluffs turn into a frozen palace with dripping icicles.

Stay during a spring weekend to view a rainbow of color. You can't miss thousands of trout lily, Solomon's seal, bloodroot, blue-eyed grass, spring beauty, and hepatica flowers in bloom. Make a bouquet to decorate your campsite or show your love for a special someone.

Choose from 103 standard campsites for tents or RVs. Only three have electrical hook-ups, and these are not reservable. Thirteen historic, one-room log cabins offer glamping options for up to four people.
