A nature lover’s paradise and photographer's dream, Pere Marquette State Park offers up more spectacular views and tantalizing Midwestern charm than one could fit in honest Abe’s stovepipe hat–and that’s a lot! Comprised of 8,050 acres granting glimpses of the Illinois and Mississippi Rivers, Pere Marquette dutifully holds the title of Illinois largest state park.

In addition to its rep for stunning fall foliage and winter homecoming for the illusive bald eagle, the grounds offer hiking, biking, horseback riding, fishing, and hella good camping with all the trimmings. And how fitting that it’s all just a stone’s throw from the quaint town of Grafton. Talk about quintessential heartland vibes! Wineries, cottages, window-shopping, and a population of less than 700… can ya dig it?
