Fifteen acre livestock farm in NW IL with a creek and pond. We raise sheep, goats, a guardian donkey, chickens, guineas, peafowl, fancy pheasants, Tom's pet trout, and two ridiculous dogs. If you like nature, and animals, up close, this is the spot. You can respectfully interact with the livestock, or not, as you choose. We're pretty hands off, but are happy to talk about the animals if you ask. Just a quick note: the satellite view is 7 years old so isn't an accurate depiction.

Fall Camping at its Finest!
I'll try to keep this short but the past couple days spent roaming around goatland were by far the best of the year. I have been all over the united states hipcamping and traveling, and this is definitely in my top three.. got the tour and the tips about the area from Jeanne and she left us alone the remainder of the time, which personally, I loved asking her questions about her land and hearing her talk about the goats -at the end of the day I visited here bc of them and to see how her farm was operated as I am interested in homesteading- she was my kind of gal for sure, really knowledgeable-and after checking out the indoor bathroom as the last stop she left us alone for the remainder of our visit, which I appreciate bc I could truly soak in the land and animals.. the trout pond was awesome to watch- however I believe they are more pets for Tom, and I don't think there's fishing for them, but they will come up to shore when they hear voices. The animals are all the cutest, especially the donkey, very therapeutic for me to say the least.. if you want hands on- this place is fo you 100% bring apples to feed the animals or pick them from the front tree. Peacocks, chicken, goats, donkey, sheep, cow.. oh my! Was such a blessing to make the stay, we booked another night instead of leaving.. I didn't want to leave day two :/ could of set up a tiny house where our tent was and just called it home! See yall again hopefully sooner then later. ♥

Perfect Family Cozy Fall Camping
We LOVED our stay on the Goatland farm!!!! It was freezing, I was with my 72 year old father and 5 year old niece and we still all has an amazing time. The hosts were so accommodating. We had to arrive after dark due to a family conflict and Tom still met us and walked around to show us two different options of where to set up camp. We talked to him several times a day wherever we wandered around the property and learned so much about the land and all the animals there. He was willing to answer my niece’s million questions :) We loved the donkey, cow, dogs, sheep, goats, peacocks and more. Some were very snuggly. It felt like a dream falling asleep right next to the babbling brook and seeing a full open sky filled with stars. As much firewood as we wanted was supplied and my niece loved pulling a wagon full all by herself. We spent hours playing in the fields and loved having so much space all to ourselves. Walking distance to a heated garage type space with a full, bright and clean bathroom to wash up in the morning and before bed. We biked just a few minutes to a beautiful forested bike trail and enjoyed sweet smells and sights of Fall. When we left Tom even let us pick out some beautiful peacock feathers to take home. We are all looking forward to making this spot a new family tradition.

Great stay
Everything was great! The site was as expected, the goats and other animals were really lovely to visit with, and I have no idea why, but there were no mosquitoes. I have never gone camping and not come back with a bunch of mosquito bites. The host made everything very easy and her communication was fantastic ahead of the trip. She gave us a tour and showed us around after we arrived so that we felt comfortable. Everything was clean and wonderful. We would definitely stay here again!

Stay was just what I needed.
This was my first time camping on someone’s land and it was what I needed. I had to be in the area for a funeral but really needed some peace, fresh air, and space. Staying at a campground just seemed like too many people. The Tree site was a nice distance off from the only other site being used (Family site), the road close by was quiet enough that it was more like white noise than I expected (better than New Glarus Woods), and the animals didn’t wake me up like I thought they would. I love animals but also thought for sure the peacocks or roosters would wake me up early. The owners were very kind and made sure I was comfortable and knew how to operate the microwave and shower, pick where I wanted to set up, settle in, where to get firewood if I wanted it. The full bathroom was very nice. It was the perfect mix of being outdoors and having modern day conveniences. The pastoral scenery was beautiful and the animals were sweet and funny. Thank you so much for everything!

Beautiful site in NW Illinois!
Serene setting to camp in a field just a fence away from the sheep and goats (and a very friendly donkey + cow). I had a really nice short one night stay here for the Perseid meteor shower and saw a lot! It was nice having access to a real bathroom with a real shower inside one of the buildings.
