This magical place is far out there! We are providing a setting for those adventurers who want a place to REALLY "get away from it all." Expect a beautiful 30 minute drive on gravel roads through mature Redwood forest from the village of Mendocino. The property is also accessible from Fort Bragg via HWY 20 and road 408/Little Lake Rd. The Aloha Cabin is a beautiful one room timber frame cabin located on a ridge top in the Redwood forest. Upon entering the gate at Old Mill Farm the Aloha Cabin is the first building you see as you come out of the thick forest and into the mixed meadow/forest ridge top of the property. Old Mill Farm is a 320 ranch in the middle of Mendocino county's 50,000 acre JDSF (Jackson State Demonstration Forest.) The Aloha sits by itself about a 1/2 mile from the rest of the ranch buildings and like the entire ranch is completely off-grid. Electricity is provided by a solar photovoltaic system and battery back up. All water is pumped with solar power and gravity fed throughout the property. You will be imbedded in the outdoors with ample opportunity to commune with the forest and the wildlife that live there. The Aloha has a kitchen equipped for cooking with refrigerator, range and oven. There is a bathroom with a flush toilet and a private outdoor shower. We provide linens and bedding for the full size bed and towels for 4 guests. There is also a sleeping loft (with no bedding included but can be added as an extra.) Please bring your own pads and sleeping bags to use the loft or pitch a tent in the front yard. The front yard is fenced and has a fire pit. Always be fire conscious - never burn outside of the fire pit and extinguish all fires before leaving or bed. You are free to relax in the natural beauty of this place, meditate while walking our earthen labyrinth or hike around the property along the ridge and on the logging roads that descend on each side. Please respect all signs and private residents. JDSF has extensive hiking and mountain bike trails accessible right from the cabin or a short drive away. The breathtaking Mendocino Coast offers an abundance of activities from the forest to the ocean headlands and beaches.Aloha Cabin is the ideal spot for your camping getaway, mountain biking adventure or escape from the stress of the world. Aloha Cabin
Aloha cabin brought the feel of camping (remote, surrounded by beautiful nature, campfire) without having to deal with some of the less fun parts of camping. The flush toilet, outdoor shower with hot water, wood stove inside for heat, and solar electricity made our stay quite comfortable. Our dog loved the fenced yard and the fenced porch was a safe place for us to hang out with our 1 year old. We will happily return for another relaxing stay!

Aloha Cabin
Cute, comfortable cabin on a beautiful farm. The cabin is pretty secluded and has all the basic amenities you need for a nice stay. We went for the weekend and had plenty of fun talking walks around the property. It was very relaxing. The owners are very kind as well and were accommodating when we had a mixup with our reservation. Would highly recommend this spot!

Aloha Cabin
My family spent a long week end at Aloha cabin and had a wonderful time. The cabin is in a remote location and surrounded by beautiful forest and trails, but it is also at a good distance from Mendocino and great beaches. We loved learning about the solar system at the cabin and being able to use electricity that is 100% from solar energy. We were there with our two young daughters (3 and 5 yo), who were very well entertained for the whole time, loved playing and exploring outside for hours and setting up their own little campsite. The directions from the host were clear and they were very responsive with communication. We would love to come back!

Aloha Cabin
Romantic and remote
My partner and I had a truly enchanting time - we wanted to get away to connect, celebrate a couple milestones, and write, and this was a perfect place to do so! The quiet, the gorgeous forest, the open meadows, the walking labyrinth, and the walking trails supported our peaceful time. We loved building a fire in the wood stove each morning and evening, and roasting hot dogs over the outdoor fire pit (keep in mind that while there are frying pans and a couple knives, cups, plates etc, there aren’t any perishables there, only salt and pepper, we wished we had brought a few more cooking items, not a problem, totally on us!). As the info on the listing clearly states it is definitely far, farther than we expected, especially with the updated directions we received - we were lucky we grabbed some extra supplies on our way, because even though we had planned on going into town for dinner one night, after arriving, we agreed we did NOT want to do those roads any more than absolutely necessary (and we’re familiar with back country roads). This was not a problem, just true! This property was clean, well prepared, and private - just what we needed. So if you’re looking for a very remote slice of forest heaven, this is it!

Aloha Cabin
The Aloha cabin was amazing! We had a great time hiking and mountain biking on the trails nearby, and relaxing in the yard or on the porch. The cabin itself is super cute and has everything you need for an unplugged weekend. And as a bonus, our dogs loved it too!

Aloha Cabin
Cas's cabin was an ideal getaway for us and our two furchildren (a dog and a cat). You feel incredibly remote even though you're only 25 minutes from the center of Mendocino. The cabin itself is well appointed with a cozy fireplace, a well-stocked kitchen, a comfortable bed, a hot outdoor shower, and all with beautiful views of the surrounding redwoods. The morning light is perfect for a cup of coffee on the porch. We arrived after dark and managed to find the cabin thanks to Cas's clear instructions. We'll definitely be back to Old Mill Farms soon!
