Sister Pine Organic Farm

8 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents150 acres · Hortense, GA
South Georgia at its best! Down a dirt road through a rusty gate, big night skies and quiet you can feel. We have 150 acres out in the sticks with the Satilla River, Altamaha River, Okefenokee Swamp, Cumberland Island and the Golden Isles beaches nearby. This is a working small organic farm with lots of free range birds and rough edges so dogs need a leash 24/7 and no children under 12. Guests can stay private or share common spaces but either way a respectful, clean up after yourself, lets talk about traveling/rivers/farming attitude is expected. No politics. Simple screened kitchen, shared fire pit with free firewood, outdoor hot shower, pond with a dock and better than 2 miles of hiking trails make it work. Paddlers with their own boats can catch a shuttle to the Altamaha for $30. GPS can be tricky and guide you onto old logging roads that dead end into spooky swamps so follow our directions on Arrival instructions or you'll be gator bait! Come check us out Y'all!

Conductor's Corner Campsites

3 sites · RVs1 acre · Folkston, GA
Call us bias, but there’s nothing better than small town life. When the "blue roof cottage by the tracks" (yes, it used to have a unique blue roof) hit the market in early 2021, we knew it had to be ours! We purchased it & flipped it into a vacation home for guests of Folkston .. and The Conductor's Corner was born. Because we are also avid RV'ers, we thought what better way to finish off our corner than to add a few first-class RV sites to accommodate the camping community. We hope you enjoy your stay on our corner! In a small town in the south, where the Okefenokee Swamp runs deep and railfans thrive, the Conductor’s Corner stands out. The Conductor’s Corner features 3 premium RV sites directly on the rail lines of the Folkston Funnel. This railfan's dream neighbors the Folkston Railfan Train Platform. The spacious concrete pads are perfect for a night of watching trains under the stars. 20x50 concrete pads with 30/50 amp power, water, sewer, Wifi & picnic tables. A quick 3 minute walk from the Conductor’s Corner will lead to the heart of Main Street where visitors will find a plethora of hidden treasures: coffee shops, boutiques, local eateries, the Train Museum and so much more. Guests could spend a day exploring the habitats and waterways of the Okefenokee Swamp or take a short drive to neighboring communities such as Cumberland Island, Savannah, Golden Isles or Amelia Island or Jacksonville in Florida. All the comforts of home and the utmost southern hospitality are included in your stay on our corner. The Conductor's Corner also includes a vacation cottage available for rent (sleeps 6).

The best camping near Laura S. Walker State Park guide

Overview

About

So, what can you do at Laura S. Walker State Park? We think the question should be what can’t you do? Fishing, swimming, and boating are probably the biggest draw, but there’s also a really awesome 18-hole golf course, and a spacious campground with lots of amenities and programs for kids. The park is located on the edge of the mysterious Okefenokee Swamp. If you’re paying attention, you’ll spot all kinds of unusual critters and plants, including alligators, carnivorous plants, gopher turtles, rare songbirds, herons, and owls. Nature trails criss-cross the park, and paddling the shoreline is another great way to take in the wildlife—right into your boat if you’ve got your rod and reel handy. For a family vacation to write home about, head over to Laura S. Walker State Park.

Notable campgrounds
