Lizardsniffer

Lizardsniffer is a working horse farm with a variety of rental cabins and RV slips. Each RV slip has water, septic, 50 amp service and Wifi. Many of our RV sites feature private fenced paddocks for people bringing their horses or dogs. Horse visitors require all current paperwork (Coggins, etc.). Dog visitors must be social and friendly and thus are allowed to explore the farm with their owners off-leash if desired. The property includes miles of trails for hiking, biking, or horseback riding. Bring your own horse or experienced riders may be able to ride one of ours (subject to weight/experience matching with a horse). There is a small private stocked lake open to all guests of Lizardsniffer for fishing and swimming. At Hard Labor Creek State Park, the only hard labor you're likely to do is swinging a golf club, flicking your wrist with a fishing pole, or working up a little sweat along miles of off-road biking trails or the easy to moderate trails that can be used by both hikers and horseback riders. Afterward, you can lay out on the lakeside beach or take a dip in the water. Hard Labor Creek State Park Campground has 51 campsites for tents, trailers, and RVs, in addition to 11 smaller sites suitable only for tents or pop-up trailers and 11 horse camping sites close to stalls.

Tips for snagging a campsite

Bookings can easily be secured online or by phone, up to 13 months in advance.
The tent/pop-up sites are not available to reserve online, so you’ll have to call the park.
Sites are not available on a first-come, first-served basis. While last-minute availability is a possibility, you’ll still need to make a booking.

When to go

Summer is the most popular time to visit, when Atlanta residents flock here to cool off in the lake. It’s a good idea to make reservations as far in advance as possible during that period, especially if planning to arrive on a weekend.
