A.H. Stephens State Park
A pretty park with three fishing lakes and over 1,177 acres, A.H Stephens State Park is known as an equestrian’s paradise. There are full facilities to make riding easier on you, and 19 miles of trails to trot around on. The Confederate museum in the park boasts one of the best collections of Civil War artifacts anywhere in Georgia and A.H. Stephen’s former home here, Liberty Hall, has been nicely renovated and is open for tours. Other structures in the park feature Colonial and Revival architecture.
Aside from the solid educational opportunities, visitors also enjoy aquatic activities on several mill ponds, peaceful nature trails and geocaching. There are also a number of special events throughout the year including a fishing rodeo, Fourth of July celebration, and a ghoulish Halloween evening in tribute to Mister Stephens.
