Paradise Valley Homestead

11 sites ¡ Lodging, RVs, Tents33 acres ¡ West Milford, NJ
GREAT NEWS!!! Starting April 5th, my long awaited 1st Glamping site will be available for booking! Please read the description carefully of the "Gypsy Rose Vardo", to see if it's the right fit for you. We have 10 large camping sites available on our 33 acre property located in Northwest NJ. Sites 1 through 4 are on mowed, fairly level fields and are large enough for campers or RV's up to 30ft, or a couple of tents, and sites 5 and 6 are further back in the woods, available only for a few small tents, sites 7 through 10 are much further into the property and are only accessible with a high clearance AWD or 4WD SUV or you can park and hike your gear in. Although we are only 2 1/2 miles from a main highway, the last 2 miles are on a dirt road with no houses. We are surrounded by protected land, so no neighbors and lots of wildlife, including the occasional bear, coyote or raccoon. Keep all food items secured. Because we are surrounded by protected land we are not sprayed for insects, so be safe and do tick checks often and bring the bug spray. We are 45 minutes from NYC or the Delaware Water Gap and an hour away from the NJ shore. There are horse farms nearby that offer trail rides. We are also close to the Highland and Appalachian Hiking trails. There are two reservoirs within a 20-minute drive for canoeing or kayaking. There are walking trails through our property, including a ten-minute hike on a marked trail to a small waterfall in a ravine.

BeaverWood Farm (no children)

40 sites ¡ RVs, Tents15 acres ¡ Liberty, NY
We are a 15 acre farm on the shores of Swan Lake. There are plenty of campsites sites all around the property, accommodating tents, mid sized campers and RV's. No children under 16 please. Depending on how crowded we are, privacy varies, but on most weekends you can be out of site of other campers. Many campsites have fire-pits already, but you're welcome to make your own anywhere you'd like. While camping, you may be visited by over 100 friendly, free roaming FARM ANIMALS! You may feed them, but PLEASE dont let them eat plastic bags. Be sure to put all food away when you are done. We cannot offer reimbursement for tents damaged by animals. This is extremely rare, but it CAN happen. If you do not wish to put your tent at risk, please do not camp here. The farm was once an old bungalow colony and has some glass and metal still in the soil. Please wear shoes at all times. Firewood is available at several locations around the farm. There is a heated sink and shower in the back corner of our main camping area. Boats are available at our lakeside dock, at no charge. There is also a great mountain for hiking and a super secret swimming hole, both within a 10 minute drive. Also enjoy a child free visit, as we do not allow children under 16 years old. Ugly Apple Farms

11 sites ¡ Tents70 acres ¡ Port Jervis, NY
Ugly Apple Farms was started by my Wife and to try to bring fresh organic/permaculture food to our community. We love to play music and get together with our friends and have been hosting people for some time. We thought that hipcamp could introduce people to our mission and make some extra money to get the farm off the ground. Ugly Apple Farms is a diverse place. We have opportunities for farm classes, pick your own veggies and more. We also have 1800 feet of access to the Neversink River. We recommend four wheel drive for some of our sites so please ask about them. We are an off grid farm with access to some solar for charging. We have tent sites and room for campers. Our camping is primitive but there is access to potable water and sanitation if needed. All extras are first come first serve if not reserved in advance. We love and welcome any questions! Thanks for looking!! Randall and Melissa

The River's Edge

5 sites ¡ Lodging, Tents60 acres ¡ Pocono Woodland Lakes, PA
The River's Edge campsites sit on the shoreline of the Delaware River at the western edge of New York State overlooking the mountains of Pennsylvania. Our canvas tents and open air platforms perch between the river and the former Delaware & Hudson Canal which was once was used to transport raw goods by barge to New York City via the 'port' of Port Jervis. The remnants of the canal walls are throughout the property including a 300 person theater which we created to both preserve and feature this industrial history. It also makes a great place for an event or a movie night. Today, the original canal towpath, along which barges would be pulled and floated downstream, is a trail that links all of the campsites over 5 acres and at the furthest end an eel fishing camp that is in operation from June to October (say 'hi' to Jim). In the early 1900s, the train replaced the canal as the primary method of moving goods into New York and if you are lucky — you will hear the train rumble by along the river on the Pennsylvania side. There is something spectacular in the absolute still and grandness of the river, the mountains and the ongoing industrial history of the valley. It is a reminder of the way things used to be.

5 sites ¡ RVs, Tents450 acres ¡ Gardiner , NY
It all started when grandfather Charles B Wright first establish this farm in 1904. He purchased it for its natural springs. In our barn (now home to Gardiner Brewing Company) he had gravity fed water troughs for his cattle. Since then we have slowly switched from animals to tree fruit. You will enjoy rolling hills of fruit trees and fruit gardens along with beautiful views of the Shawangunk Mountain Ridge. We have 450+ acres so it in very private. As we are a working farm, you can see us driving pass with our tractors or maintaining the orchard around your campsite on occasion. You are welcome to ride your bikes, hike or jog where you will pass ponds and a working farm landscape. Please don’t pick our fruit. If you would like to enjoy the fruits of our labor please visit our farm store open year round on the premises where we sell cheeses, our fresh picked fruit and veggies, local meats, and our famous cider donuts along with other farm products. We also have a farm brewery open 3-7 in our old dairy barn for you to enjoy. Live music Saturdays and Sundays. Minnewaska State Park and Mohonk Reserve are only 10 minutes away. The rail trail is three minutes away. This trail gives you walking and biking access into New Paltz, where there is tons of restaurants and lots of shopping. Please be aware that during the months of September and October there may be a Pick-Your-Own customer or two walking around picking apples around the campsite area between the hours of 10:00-6:00. The best camping near High Point State Park guide

Overview

About

Reach the highest point in the state of New Jersey while getting a view of the surrounding countryside. You can't miss High Point Monument as you approach. Summertime creates a vast field of greenery, while fall time has spectacular colors in early to mid-October.

The gray obelisk looks as if the Washington Monument sits on a hilltop. Climb the 220 steps to the top of the monument to see everything below. Take a view minutes to admire the site from the monument. A ridgeline extends to the north, while small lakes and the Delaware River are to the west.

Trek through 50 miles of trails to see the wilderness surrounding the hill. Cedar Swamp Trail takes you on a 1.5-mile loop to unique bog, the highest-elevation Atlantic white cedar swamp in America. Part of the Appalachian Trail winds through here.

Reserve some of the 50 tent sites for your stay. Two group sites work well for youth or scouting groups. Glamp in one of two cabins.

When to go

The ideal time to visit High Point State Park is during the warmer months, from late spring to early fall, when the park's full beauty is on display. Summer offers the perfect climate for hiking and lake activities. Conversely, winter can be harsh, with heavy snowfall limiting access to certain areas and making some activities less enjoyable.

Know before you go

  • Check the park's official website for updates on trail closures and safety advisories before your visit.
  • Ensure you have a valid park pass for entry, available at visitor centers during operating hours, typically 8:30am to 5pm.
  • Accessibility varies across the park, so inquire ahead if you require special accommodations.
  • While exploring, keep an eye out for local wildlife and maintain a safe distance.
  • Remember to pack out all trash and respect the park's natural beauty for future visitors.
