Glen Haven Fox Creek Cabin Hiking Info
Summary: The cabin is surrounded by National Wilderness that abuts up against the National Park. There is no public access so you have it to yourself. I have extra topo maps on the bookshelves, and maps on the cabin walls.
Up the road from the cabin is the Cheley girls camp which is in session June through August. You may hike directly through the camp September through May, but not in summer. There is a bypass trail on the hillside south of the cabin that takes you up Fox Creek above and around the camp.
Across creek, to the South, a network of trails head up to the ridgetop, or up Fox Creek. At the ridgetop you can head west along the ridgetop following a cairn-marked route as far as you want to go. After about 1/3 of a mile, there is a huge rock outcropping

Across creek, to the South, a network of trails head up to the ridgetop, or up Fox Creek. At the ridgetop you can head west along the ridgetop following a cairn-marked route as far as you want to go. After about 1/3 of a mile, there is a huge rock outcropping summit with “bathtubs” of water on top and panoramic views. Heading up Fox Creek, the going is slow due to flood damage, but the valley is beautiful. The fast way up Fox Creek is to walk up Fox Creek Road through the locked gates and through the girls camp when it is closed, and just keep heading up stream. The bypass trail is also nice. There are stunning tall waterfalls at 4 miles, but that is best reached via the ridge trail.
Across the road from the cabin, to the North, there are routes that start at the head of the driveway. There is a stone bench 50’ up the trail. From there, head up the mountain and circling around to the right of the summit and there are endless hiking choices through meadows and to rock outcrops.
Check out the cabin on google earth to see the hiking terrain around Fox Creek. Call Michael from cabin to discuss hiking options that suit the moment. Michael knows excursions of every length and style, including high peaks.
