Venado's existing 33 acre parcel was originally part of several hundred acres by the original homesteader, who was a prune farmer. We purchased the last parcel directly from the granddaughter of that farmer. If you walk 200 yards down the road from us, you'll see the original redwood hut that was the post office for the hamlet of Venado. Keep walking another small bit, and you'll see the old cabin used in the 1800s as a restaurant, store and yes, brothel up above, serving the loggers who cut the redwood that built most of San Francisco's homes. Two miles east on Mill Creek you can see the one-room schoolhouse that the original owner's daughter attended, only a short commute fro their home by horseback.
Today, Venado Retreat is the shared vision of Noor and Deborah Adabachi. Noor is a custom furniture designer/crafter, sculptor and scenic designer who yearned for the life he remembered as a child in Lebanon. Deborah is an actor, voiceover and coach who runs a theater company in SF who wanted to offer the power of nature to urbanites for relaxation, inspiration and renewal. We offer many facilities including a 1200 square foot enclosed event space, a 500 square foot glass-enclosed sunroom, 3 bedroom log cabin, redwood grove, yoga deck and more. We host company retreats, workshops and trainings, weddings up to 80 people and farm to table events. Together this young dream manifests and grows with every guest who walks the land. We look forward to hosting you.
