We've named our place Sweet Water Hideaway because we are on a well and the water coming out of the tap is so sweet and delicious. We won't have bottled water available, because this is WHERE they source the water to bottle it. : ) But there will be a pitcher of cool well water in the fridge when you arrive.
We invite you to work with us to conserve this beautiful land on the edge of the John Muir Wilderness. Below are the conservation, earth-loving, hopeful human practices we engage in based on our location and level of awareness. We hope you appreciate the impact of each person. We welcome new ideas in our guestbook. Let’s keep growing together.
• Solar panels • 97% efficient radiant floor heating • Night lights and compact fluorescent light bulbs to reduce lighting usage – this is where YOU help. Turn off lights when not in the room. • Unplugged appliances when not in use to reduce vampire power, also known as standby power and phantom load. • Well water system (we invite you to fill up your reusable containers) • Energy-efficient, double paned windows • Handcrafted, organic herbal whole leaf teas • Homemade or chemical free cleaning supplies • Recycling system (the front can is trash and the second can is for recycling CRV glass, plastic and aluminum) • Locally roasted coffee and organic sugar • Cloth napkins • Growlers (think of the bottles and cans saved!) • Solar powered patio and yard lighting • Handmade soaps from natural oils and ethical products
Also, we're really strict on our no smoke and no pet policy. Please secure a nice safe place for your furry family members. Thanks for understanding. We also recommend that you do your grocery shopping before you arrive if possible as this mountain location can run out of your favorites in the grocery stores.
Finally, what words and pictures cannot convey, we have created a home. If you have slept under the roof of the person who built that roof, you can begin to understand what it means to stay at Sweet Water Hideaway. Joey literally built this guesthouse from the ground up with his own hands. It is the most modern, rustic, safest, beautiful cabin you will ever stay in. Period. The books and movies come from our own collection and have been read (or watched) for years. The artwork has sentimental value. The games, coffee, tea, soaps were carefully considered. Truth be told, we're hoping to meet beautiful people to add to a network of amazing humanity that we can call friends. Blessed be fellow travelers.
