This redwood forest was logged back inn 1882 when Bonny Doon was first settled. Once the mother trees were cut down, new growth sprang up from their roots, creating what is known as fairy rings: trees growing in a circle. Over the past 120-140 years, the trees have grown over 200 feet tall. The forest floor is covered with wood sorrel, moss and tiny violets. In 1949 a major fire swept through the Santa Cruz Mountains, but redwoods don't burn well, so the trees just kept growing. We are the lucky stewards of this property, just the third owner in over 100 years! Come enjoy it!
