AltOption: Sandbox, California

The Sandbox is a remote patch of desert land and an architectural test site. We are currently using the area as prototyping lab for vernacular designs as well as a general retreat space. We invite those looking to unplug to check out and camp at the site.
There are hundreds of acres of desert surrounding the property, so there's no need to whisper. However, we have to call out the small chance you could hear sound carrying from other areas. It should be infrequent and friendly, but just a heads-up!
In addition to the desert expanse, there is a nearby butte, The Sleeping Elephant, which you can scramble up for sweeping views.
And, lastly, the final stretch will take you off-road. We recommend 4WD and being mindful of scratching your car.
