Tres Rios Ranch is small, but it's our dream come true. The property runs down the canyon to the center of the south fork of the Kaweah River. We employ a giant slobber bucket/livestock guardian dog named Boris to protect our herd of Nigerian Dwarf Goats, a few Dexter Heifers, hens and one crazy little rooster. Winters here are beautiful, though they are cold between sundown and sun-up. Summers are very hot. Thankfully, there is plenty of water to play in at our little swimming hole. Wildlife are in abundance here. We see hawks, owls, fox, coyote, deer, and bobcats regularly and there are trails running through the campsite. We sometimes see bears and an occasional mountain lion, too.
This property was once part of a historic homestead. The original home is inhabited a short walk from our property. We share a property line with one of the oldest running cattle ranches in this area.
This campsite sits in an ancient flood plane that we are hopeful to rehabilitate with native plants and help from conservation ecologists in the future. Renting the campsite on Hipcamp will help fund those efforts.
