Fir & Feather Treehouse INTRO$

2 sites ¡ Lodging120 acres ¡ Golden, BC
We left the city to be closer to nature and like minded folks who help us be our best every day! We found it in Golden, BC. This unforgettable nest high above the forest floor is your opportunity to take flight. Endless trails give you access to natural views and experiences. Snowshoes provided, then spend your evening up on the deck around the tree-top propane fire pit. Cook your meals in the outdoor kitchen or on the wood burning stove in the Trapper's Tent. Eat inside or out under the sky, then curl up in the luxurious queen bed to rest up and do it again tomorrow! After two years of building, this is the first year of sharing our labour of love! Be part of our journey by sharing your thoughts with us. Give us listing suggestions and any ideas to improve the Fir and Feather experience. Help us provide some magic. *Check out our first year's reviews on 'that other site', including winter stays. Our 120 acres include trails on the Moonraker Mountain trail system which connect to well over 100 km of biking, hiking, snowshoeing, and ski trails. Canyon Creek and the Columbia River provide views and activities for everyone. The only problem is it can be difficult to pull yourself away from the simple stillness and connection you feel while just sitting at the treehouse or off grid cabin. Isn't life wonderful?

The best camping near Twin Falls Tea House National Historic Site guide

Overview

About

When train whistles first blew through the Rocky Mountains in the early 1900s, the Canadian Pacific Railway built grand hotels, rustic lodges and backcountry chalets amid some of Canada’s most spectacular natural landscapes. Today, Twin Falls Tea House is a seasonal overnight retreat for registered guests. Stop at the historic log building while day-hiking to enjoy its rustic architecture and breathtaking views of the dual cascades of Twin Falls.

When to go

The best time to visit Twin Falls Tea House National Historic Site is during the summer months, from June to September, when the trails are clear and the weather is favourable for hiking. The site is closed for the season during the winter, making access challenging due to snow and ice.

Know before you go

  • Check the weather forecast before your visit, as mountain conditions can change rapidly.
  • Be aware that the Tea House is accessible only by foot, with an 8.5 km hike from the Takakkaw Falls parking lot.
  • For overnight stays, contact the Alpine Club of Canada to secure reservations in advance.
  • Remember to carry sufficient water and snacks, as facilities are limited along the trail.
  • Respect the natural environment and adhere to the Leave No Trace principles during your visit.
