Overview

About

When you come to this national monument, you're actually visiting someone's home. The Navajo people still live in this canyon, it's of the longest continuously inhabited landscapes in the country.

Take a tour from an authorized Navajo guide and walk the White House Ruin Trail. Or, if time is limited, drive the North or South Rim Drive for stunning photos from the overlooks. If you hike down to the canyon floor, you'll see authentic Anasazi ruins that transport you back in time.

Keep an eye open for the artisans selling jewelry, musical instruments and pottery—You'll find some amazingly beautiful mementos.

Camping is available, courtesy of the Navajo Nation. No reservations—Campsites are first-come, first-served, with no hookups available. But you'll feel as if you're in your own private Grand Canyon. Stay hydrated (you're in the desert, after all)—And give yourself enough time to explore this magical park.
