Granite Bay State Marine Park
Visitors feel like they’ve stumbled across uncharted territory at Granite Bay State Marine Park. The park, located in the Northwest corner of Esther Island, is pristine with little evidence of human impact. Head out for a hike and explore the two bays, islands, muskegs, and hills that lead up to stunning views of the surrounding mountains and water. Old growth forests, lakes, and ponds cover the uplands. While most shorelines are made up of rough boulders, slabs, and steep granite cliffs, there are a few pebbly beaches where you can pitch a tent at low tide. Visitors can also find spots to camp on heather or in the beach grass. After a few days of solitude, head to the nearby town of Whittier or further afield to
