300 acres of family land since 2000. This area was called Boot's Bottoms growing up and the name stuck. There is a rock wall close to the campsite that was a old grist mill site. Plenty of wildlife, bird watching, wildflowers and creek walking. Some old atv trails for hiking as well. Very remote and quite! Learn more about this land: Setup camp on the banks of Dorsey creek in Bug Tussle. Wooded area with shade in the warm season. Flat ground for tents or plenty of trees for hammocks. Easy access for vehicles directly to the campsite. Fire ring with grill grates present for cowboy cooking. Peaceful with plenty of opportunity to see wildlife. Primitive toilet present. Rock dam in creek is great to entertain kids, old grist mill site couple hundred yards downstream. Logging and ATV present for hiking and wildlife viewing. This is the only site on the property deep in our own property with one way in and out, so you will not be bothered by anyone or see anyone, unless it's me or my father. FWD is recommended if conditions are wet, otherwise 2WD is fine. There is no mud, but the hills and grass can cause traction issues with street tires. (I've had several vans stay without issues, just be aware the road is not paved). Box with several outdoor reading material and I.D. pamphlets present at site. Please ask any questions and I'll do my best to answer any concerns.

Bug Tussle Creek Bend
The campsite was perfect. We enjoyed walking in the creek to cool off. The privacy was great. I will say the ticks were plentiful. Bug tussle creek campsite was amazing. We had the pleasure of meeting Matthew when he came to save us ( got stuck in the slick clay) not once but twice. Prior to our getaway, he was very quick to respond and easy to communicate with. But actually meeting him is why I love going to Alabama. He’s a true southern gentleman. Most likely the politest man one can meet. Thank you Matthew for allowing us to enjoy a little piece of heaven. Thank you for saving us. We look forward to enjoying your property again.

Just what I needed
This easy-to-find, secluded spot is the perfect setting for an enchanting getaway. You’ll find enough room by the beautiful creek to set up any camp size. Cell service wasn’t an issue (AT&T), though we barely used it; there’s enough here to keep you entertained. Make sure you you do some stargazing in the field just above the camp. It’s amazing! Also, if you have an FM radio and position it well, you’ll pick up two of the best classic country music stations I’ve ever heard: 88.5 and 105.7.
