Chookhouse Farmstay

Check out times. 10 am - unless advised. The Chookhouse is situated approximately 20 minutes south of Toowoomba on 23 acres. Please note that there are other dogs and animals long our road. We also have grain trains that pass by throughout the day and night. When you are travelling on Shepperd Road look for our "Chookhouse Farm" sign and a chook mailbox, that is the driveway you need to take. LONG TERM RENTALS We can also accommodate long term rentals. Please contact us for further information. If possible, we would prefer self-contained set ups; however not essential. AMENITIES Uni-sex amenity block with hot water and flushing toilets for those booked in Pepperina. Top Paddock power, Top Paddock unpowered and Paddock Camp we have gas showers (preset temperature for the safety of children). It will not be a hot shower like you have at home, however you will get clean. There are also pit toilets in the camp areas. In each camp area we have 3 x rubbish bins. PLEASE NOTE WE DO NOT HAVE DRINKING WATER AVAILABLE. WE DO NOT HAVE WATER TO FILL YOUR CARAVAN. Plenty of room for self-contained caravans/motorhomes and places to pitch a tent or camper. National Parks, walking trails, Wineries, Gourmet Pubs and Restaurants, Markets, two magnificent parks with play areas for children and so many other points of interest to see and discover. So many animals here! You get to meet camels, cows, pigs, alpacas, Boer goats Dorper Sheep, a multitude of chickens, geese, peacocks and guinea fowl. Miss Piggy loves posing for the camera. Sit under the stars and toast your marshmallows by your fire pit. Safe place to leave your gear while out exploring the Darling Downs and surrounds. Being in a rural area we have strict guidelines for campfires. We follow all Local Government guidelines and the QFS. No blazing fires, all fires to be extinguished at night, no coals or ash to be left under trees or on the grass. We will pick up each morning coals and ash if required. It is located just 15kms north of Toowoomba.Our property is part of the Highfields Pioneer Village* complex located just 20 minutes from Toowoomba. This campsite is a wonderful place to rest whilst taking in the scenic surroundings of the village which is the home of the Big Cow. Visit the Toowoomba Fire Brigade Museum which houses an historic collection of memorabilia, documenting the story of the people who have worked every day to keep us safe from fires since 1877. The collection includes Uniforms, Badges & patches, historical records & photographs and over 6 Historic Fire Engine Vehicles, Apparatus, Models & Collectibles.Visit the iconic Ambulance Museum that tells the story of Ambulance services in Queensland.We are within easy reach of Highland Falls which has some great walking tracks and view points of the falls. Pets are also permitted in this bushland area but must be on a leash.We are just 3 mins from local shops, McDonald's, KFC. This is the perfect spot for those who want to wind down and escape the hustle and bustle.We have amenities available and pets are welcome but must be kept on a leash at all times. Sorry, no campfires. Bush Camping.*Tickets to the Village are optional and can be purchased onsite from the Kiosk. Recommended time to view the Pioneer Village is at least 2 hours.

Rubern Lagoons is a natural bushland that we have built pea gravel smooth roads on for your valuable RV, Caravans, Buses or Vans to park on. The perfect place to get away with a group of friends and have a relaxing time while the kids enjoy the activities of the lagoons. Pets are welcome. Please note there is a very small service fee added for your insurance. The property is 5 minutes from the main street/CBD Chinchilla. Phone a taxi or take a stroll in to town to dine if you don't want to unhook or you can call and get a pizza delivered. You can paddle boat, canoe, kayak or tinny boat on the lagoons as part of your stay with us. Ruben One Hill under the gum trees, or enjoy our massive 10 metre deck over the water and watch the wildlife float around. There is also a great spot to watch the kangaroos coming for a drink and to lay under the trees. The most exciting part is, you could get lucky and see a Koala sitting in a gumtree beside your vehicle. We have seen a number of them while building this beautiful boutique camp grounds for visitors to enjoy in the western downs, Chinchilla. Please Note fire wood is $10.00 for a good size bag

We are only new and have only had 3 bookings so far So not many other campers near you Hillcrest Farm was established in 1876. It's a quiet, spacious and relaxing spot only minutes to Toowoomba where you'll find lots of weekend markets and other attractions. We have 20 beautiful acres here, with several acres in the middle and the back of the property ideal for setting up camp. The land is mostly level, with trees scattered throughout, and all areas have lovely farm views. Whether your on the hill with 360-degree views looking over the campfire while watching the sunset or in the paddock, amongst the trees, you will have space to relax We have 40 sheep on the property, and often lots of lambs which can be seen at any time. We also have 10 antique tractors, and other old farm equipment, which add to the eclectic farm charm. We also have lots of residential wildlife, including kangaroos and plenty of birdlife, such as kookaburras, cockatoos, galahs, finches, Wrens, Willy wagtails, parrots and more. All guests need to be self-sufficient, with their own toilet, shower and power There are toilets at the park in Wyreema 3k Local shop just up the road for basic essentials and fuel, plus there are great pub meals nearby at the Bull n Barley - 8 minutes drive away. Otherwise, cook at camp by the campfire, watching the sunset. We have a fair bit of free firewood currently.

At night, admire the clear skies ablaze with stars, knowing you are in a safe, fully fenced and secure environment. Bunya Mountains View

Our property is located just over an hour from Toowoomba and has stunning views to the Bunya Mountains from both of the campsites. We have one campsite near the dam, which is sometimes full depending on how much rain we have had. The other site is in an elevated position that looks down the valley towards the Bunya Mountains. The town of Kaimkillenbun is known by locals as 'The Bun' and you are within easy driving distance to the Bun Pub which was built in 1912 and is a great spot to visit for a drink or a meal if you are coming to the area. We are just over 30 minutes drive from the Bunya Mountains National Park which has a variety of different hiking trails which include lookouts and waterfalls. Campfires are allowed, permitting there are no restrictions in place. Sorry, no pets. Campers must be self sufficient, bring their own toilet and take all waste with them on departure.

If you choose to find your own camping area please keep all fires contained. All guests must be fully self contained with their own toilet/shower facilities and must take all waste and rubbish with them on departure.Enjoy a quiet bush walk or catch some yabbies in the dam.  Guests are welcome to visit the miniature horses and join in with animal feeding routine morning and night.  Relax around the campfire in the evenings and enjoy a star filled sky.Guests are welcome to bring their motorbikes for riding in the adjacent state forest but please note there is strictly NO riding on the property. We also welcome guests to bring their horses to camp with them. We have a paddock and round yard available. Pets are welcome but dogs must be restrained near livestock. Our farm animal sanctuary is for all to enjoy.
