Our campsite is located at the far back of our property right on Rainbow Reservoir which is part of the Farmington River. This reservoir is used for hydroelectricity so boating, swimming, fishing and all sorts of watersports are welcome. Directly across from our property is a massive land preserve and local park so the veiw looking out is all untouched forest. We get a wide variety of wildlife through the year, the most exciting are probably the abundant wild birds we see daily including hawks and blue herons and the occasional bald eagle which are said to have nests in the forest along the opposing land preserve up the river. Although our location is conveniently located within 5 minutes from the international airport it will feel very private with the property on either side of us uncleared down to the water. Both sites each have their own picnic table but share an outhouse, hand washing sink station and solar pump shower. It seems to be ideal for two groups trying to camp together. We have bundles of split firewood available for $5 each if you choose to not bring your own. Campers will have their own small, private stairwell that steps down to their own small beach. Depending on the fluctuation of the dam our beach increases and decreases in size, much like the tide on the ocean so sometimes the water comes right up to the stairs but it's still convenient water access for swimming or floating. We currently only have a canoe for rent but you can bring your own kayaks, paddleboards, fishing poles or even your boat! The boat launch for the reservoir is less than a mile down the road. You can launch it and tie off right in front of the campsite. Great for tubing or water skiing. On our property we also currently have chickens, ducks and pigeons and our personal dog Bowie so you can expect a miniature farm experience! If you chose to explore the area nearby we are located within a 7 mi radius of 7 different hiking trails or state parks as well as the capital city Hartford, CT or the capital city Springfield, MA both located eithin a 20 min drive. Springfield is also home to the recently built MGM casino if you felt like testing your luck at the poker table before roughing it. We hope our campsite gets you and your friends and family excited about getting outside and making memories. We cannot wait to meet you and make new friends as well. *Reach out to us directly if you want to book with us sooner rather than later. We are also open to van/truck camping. Please inquire*

Kid friendly, tranquil, private experience. Large, Open terrain site with plenty of shade. Good spacing between sites. The added amenities (shower, water, and portapottie) were clean and welcoming. The fishing is good too! The hosts are delightful. Would highly recommend.
The only downside was that we chose not swim due to summer algae blooms. It didn’t stop the other party though. I’m sure it’s lovely when it’s not present. We opted to explore the hiking trails near by. Check out salmon brook park. There is a beautiful creek to swim About just beyond the playground.
Absolutely loved the site ! So cute and right on the water. Very clean. Amenities were all close by. Hosts were incredibly friendly. Water was beautiful. Loved the personal message left for me when I got there. Access to firewood was so convenient.
The hosts home is semi close and there is a rooster so if you are looking to sleep in you might just want to bring some ear buds for the AM. I had to get up early so it was a lovely natural alarm clock and didn’t mind it one bit.
I would 100% stay there again and recommend it to a friend.

This is a beautiful property! Amy and her family are wonderful hosts, they were very welcoming and made us feel extremely comfortable during our stay. The property feels private with easy access to the river, perfect for swimming and other water- activities that we thoroughly enjoyed. We had a wonderful time camping here and would highly recommend this site.
The camp was neatly kept but the view of the lake was amazing. This was my idea of a camp ground that is private and quiet. Fishing in the river a big plus. Definitely coming back.
Amy and James were wonderful to talk too and very down to earth.
This site was one of the best ones I have ever had and we have been camping for 28 years! It was very clean and roomy. It had a big fire pit with a bench and chairs already setup around it. Oh and the fire wood for sale was the best driest wood we ever had!! If you go to camp grounds allot you know what I am talking about. They even setup a really cute kitchen shower area. (shower wasn't setup yet.) Amy and James were wonderful hosts and were ever so accommodating! Asking you if there was anything else you needed. They have just started doing this and have some really wonderful plans! The site was right on the water. Right across was conservation land and had so many birds! I have never heard so many different sounds.
We brought our boat that we tied right in front of campsite after we put it in the water at the boat launch down the street 5 houses! They have ducks, chicken and pigeons. They are located close to the airport which I found cool because you could see the planes fly over up close. The noise didn't bother me at all it really wasn't bad and they didn't fly over that often. A bit noisy in the morning but because of all the wonderful nature sounds of wild birds, ducks and geese. We are definitely going back and have already booked our next trip!
Thank you so much Amy & James

Loved everything about our stay. Amy welcomed us so warmly, and made it clear her hipcamp is a labor of love. What a fantastic place to stay. Had a great time and would have loved to stay longer! Amy has firewood available for purchase at the site.
Stay at this place was just the retreat I needed! The site is well cleaned (Amy comes and wipes everything down every morning making sure everything is clean and tidy for the day ahead!) the site is conveniently located to food, gas stations, whatever you might need (or accidentally left behind). They are really generous with their things- a canoe with a life vest for the day for only $15! What a deal!!! I took advantage of this and went riding every night up and down the reservoir... complete relaxation. I totally enjoyed my stay and I am already planning my return trip with friends!
